If you are into a classic hotel, then this is for you. The room is spacious, with coffee table, there is a heater to heat the used towel. Clean hotel, our only complain is the bed, it is not honeymoon friendly, cause it is made of woods and seems not too strong.. haha.. overall we love it. Its located in the central of the city, so getting food is not a problem.
What a gorgeous hotel, came with my daughter so we could look around the university, which is just a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Right in the city centre, 15 minutes from lime street station. Can get quite noisy at night because of the close proximity to the student accommodation & bars. But we did visit on Freshers week. This hotel is gorgeous with all of the original features I believe it was built in the late 1800s. Check-in was very smooth and efficient. It's like stepping back in time. I would definitely go back there. Thank you for our present stay. And the upgraded room was too die for. I felt very regal. If you love your period features you need to definitely stay here. It's like being on the set of Titanic and the shining.
I rarely make a mistake picking a hotel but I surely did with this choice. First of all I booked astandard double room. I saw three rooms whilst I was there and non of them looked remotely like the photos displayed on Agoda. The rooms were smaller, old painted walls where you could see where they patched them up. Drab, old furniture, window pane was cracked. Radiator was rusty and no knob to turn it on. The bed was terrible. When you sat down on it the mattress just sank and you heard the springs. It was the most uncomfortable bed because the mattress was so old and well used. When my friend and I checked in we were given twin bed rooms when I had paid for double beds. This was rectified by reception. The second time we went to check the rooms one of them had not been cleaned from the last guest with bedding and mess on the floor etc. The noise from outside was awful. About 7pm a bar across the road starts playing live music or karaoke I couldn't tell was so bad until past midnight. It's so loud. Just as you think you are getting some peace a trumpet busker starts playing before 8am the next morning. The wall by the bath/shower is not even a real wall I discovered when I leant on it. It's a flimsy board which bends scaring the life out of you! We were advised by friends when they found out where we were staying under no circumstances eat in the hotel. I didn't sleep for two tonightsit was that bad. Would not recommend this hotel. The only positive is its location.
Number one selling point is the location. 3 minutes walk from lime st. Station. Tons of good restaurants nearby, lots to choose from. The room is spacious and clean. My only complain is the stain on the bathtub, good thing there's shower. It's an old building so you can see the wear and tear and some stuff they don't bother to fix, overall it's still a good hotel and cheap, we got it double the price coz it's taylor swift weekend.

It's a dated hotel (must have looked amazing when it was new though). The areas/rooms downstairs are very pretty but the bedroom felt tired. It had a funky smell when we first walked in however opening the window helped. The corridor also gave me The Shining vibes. Normal bathroom with some toiletries and towels were clean. Bed at first looked uncomfortable but was actually okay to sleep in although mattress could've been newer/better. Mismatched uncomfortable pillows. :( Amazing location! In the middle of everything.
