Best hotels & accommodations in Varanasi

We booked 3 nights here at the end of a month in India for a bit of luxury and it definitely delivered. The staff are wonderful, so efficient, friendly and polite- nothing is to much for them. Our room came with an excellent complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, fruit platter, mini bar and tea and coffee room service for each day of our stay- lots of extra perks fo...

Guleria Kothi is a hidden gem and we reaslised this only after we reached there. There is no way to reach the hotel by car. Best is to get off the cab at Raj Ghat and call the hotel for a boat. It’s a 10 min boat ride. The restaurant Guleria Cafe has a limited menu but easily makes up for it by the quality of food, ambience, location and great staff. It’s the only caf...

very nice hotel in varanasi. all the amenities you would expect. close to several ATM machines. had a travel desk in lobby that was very helpful for tours of the river and temples.very nice coffee shop with a very good buffett for breakfast and a nice selection for dinner.very attentive staff.hotel has a pool and spa-did not have time to indulge in either unfortunately...

The guest house is totally organized, as soon as I booked online they emailed me with an offer to organize airport or train station pick up which was very handy indeed, especially as you have about a 10 min walk from main street through the narrow market streets to the guest house...so worth it. They have someone who meets the cab and carries your bags if needed and gu...

This was a wonderful place to stay in Varanasi. Varanasi is a wonderful place, but also crazy in a unique way, so we were happy to have a nice, calm hotel room to retire to after braving the streets. Our room overlooked the Ganges, was clean and beautiful. The hotel is a little hard to find, but all the hotels along the Ganges in Varanasi are similarly located on th...

We were here for 1 night. they have got some new rooms which are upgraded to 4 star grade rooms. the rooms are well decorated with upgraded amenities. the hotel is quite neat and clean. the staffs are very helpful. the management also organize local sightseeing , walking tour with informative good english speaking guide. it was a superb stay with a good buffet breakfas...

We had a fantastic stay at Rivatas in Varanasi. I can be very particular about the hotels I stay in, so I was happy when we arrived to a friendly and helpful staff and a beautiful, comfortable, and clean room. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nightly escape from the busy city.

This hotel came as a very pleasant surprise. This recently renovated hotel retains a lot of it's 1950s character, in a building that's over 300 years old. Honestly, it looks a lot better in person than it does in the photos. We were both completely surprised by the character and charm of this hotel. The room was smaller but very cozy and quite pretty with very high cei...

I stayed in Varanasi for 3 nights as a first time solo traveller in India. The hotel is in a great location, less than 5 min walk to ghats by the river. I've got an upgrade to a room with a terrace, which was fantastic, as lets you enjoy a great view and some extra space. The hotel has been refurbished, room was very clean, spacious, bathroom was good. There is a resta...

Dear Travelers, If you want to experience Varanasi this is the place. The location is by far the best. One thing one should understand though. If you arrive by train or plane it is not possible to have a cab or tuk tuk take you directly to the hotel. You will have to be escorted for about 1 kilometer to get to the hotel. Be sure and make that arrangement with the Alka w...

The location of this hotel is excellent and very well maintained Hotel. The staffs are friendly and very honest. I left my backpack at the Hotel Lobby while rushing to the Airport and the Hotel owner whom also operating cab service in Varanasi immediately arrange to despatch my backpack to Varanasi Airport. Things would have gone bad if i had lost my backpack at the ho...

We opted to stay at Hotel Madin instead of staying at one of the hotels on the Ganges. It's about a half hour drive to the river (45 minutes in traffic), but we were very happy that we made the decision to stay here and would do it again. The rooms are brand new, high-quality, and gorgeous. The food, both buffet and cook-to-order are excellent. There are mosquitos in t...

This hotel always stands out because of staff & the sheer character of the place ..!! Amazing hospitality & a cultural bowl of India . This hotel meets international standards & show cases Indian wedding , which are always spectacle ... If in varanasi this place is must try .....!!!;)

Good food- slightly expensive as compared to other local hotels in the same bracket. Breakfast is very good. Not too many options, but whatever is available is really good. Overall the quality of food is very good. *Air conditioner are centralized and cannot be individually controlled. Rooms are clean, decent staff, you might have to buy drinking water bottles (only ...

One must take into account the City of Varanasis as a whole when making a review. It is a very old city with mainly crumbling buildings, narrow laneways and lots of poverty. Our hotel was in a perfect location. Rooms are small but have all one really needs, without beig lavish. Pay a little extra and take a room with balcony overlooking the river and not stop movement....

I have been to Varanasi almost 20 times. And I have seen the good, bad and the ugly. Pros- Rooms very clean, very descent staff who are not that crazy for tip. We got a spacious room. The room service is very good. The restaurants in the hotel are great. The food is awesome . Every dish we tried, veg or non veg was delicious. Cons : The hotel is old so some ameneties...

Realy the best place to stay in Varanasi. When you came to this hotel you feel only the quiet comes from Ganga. When you enter the hotel you will meet very nice and helpful guy who realy wants you to spend great time in Varanasi. And when you enter the room with the balcony you know that the time here will be one of the best on your trip. The hotel is not cheap howeve...

varanasi looks unchanged and unchangeable from the Ganges but the hotel temple is an exception, providing modern rooms, efficient service and great staff, and a location where you can watch it all happen. We loved our stay and the hotel made india a little simpler (a real achievement) helping us arrange transport, activities and dinner.

varanasi is a beautiful place it is so worthwhile staying somewhere so close to the river. assi ghat is a wonderful area to stay. palace on ganges was fantastic and the photos do not do it justice it was by far one of the best hotels we stayed in all of india. we were quite used to arriving at a hotel to find the pictures were much better than what you actually got - p...

We were on a backpacking tour around India and chose this hotel in Varanasi, because the price per night was very low, but we read many, and only positive reviews about it. It definitely is a low budget hotel, but the rooms were clean, and we felt safe there. No worries regarding leaving our stuff there when we went out, we also felt safe nighttime, when sleeping. The ...

just to set the stage: i live in los angeles, travel for work quite a bit (have highest statuses on airlines and at major hotel chains)and am used to elite treatment. so after having read all the mixed reviews on hhi, i was very concerned it was not going to be to my liking. i even considered canceling the reservation, but taj and even raddison were fully booked, so ...

The hotel is in the cantonment area. I was told that the food is very good too. I didnt have the opportunity to taste their meals, except for the breakfast. The breakfast spread was quite well spread out with sufficient options and variety. The room was good - the usual amenities with tea/coffee maker and a hair dryer. The desk staff seemed a bit distant, but the rest ...

For me, this is the ideal hotel. Wonderfully located a half block from the Ganges at Assi Ghat. Assi Ghat has become a major cultural site, with aarti, yoga, and classical music every morning, and frequent music and/or dance programs in the evening (all free). The neighborhood is great: a variety of restaurants, milk and lassi shops, book stores, and dhobi stands (f...

This place is great value! Excellent central location. After travelling for a few weeks through north India in a variety of 3, 4, 5 stars (most of them pretty disappointing) I settled on a budget option for a 9 day training in Varanasi. The service was personal and accommodating. Athul, Binu and crew took care of all my needs & worked around my tricky schedule. An...

When we found that all of the Lonely Planet-recommended hotels were fully booked, we turned to TripAdvisor for a suitable alternative and found Hotel Rivera Palace. It was easy to book online and arrange a airport pick up for an extra fee - which was worth it because the hotel is located down an unmarked alley and we wouldn't have found it otherwise! Staff were polite ...

Authentically Indian hotel, very clean and comfortable. Delicious Indian and Western food. Noisy on one side, quieter on the other side. Warm atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. Felt well taken care of by Rakesh the waiter who was very sweet. Because this city is like a labyrinth without sidewalks, and because this was our first visit in India, it was helpful to ha...

We had a great stay. The rooms were very clean, far above indian standards. The food was really, really good. The staff was very nice and helpful. It is located in the center of varanasi, close to the burning ghat. Yes, you have to walk 5 min through the narrow streets with your luggage to get there because the rickshaws are not able to drive there but that's worth the...
Cheapest hotels in Varanasi

I stayed in this hostel for almost 10 days and it's one of the best I’ve ever been! Great vibes, amazing staff, delicious breakfast and good location (10 minutes from the Ghat in a quiet road). The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home, always smiling and willing to help; you can ask them (almost) everything and they will do their best to...

The best part of Hostale would be the host, Abhinav Chauhan *Abby is super chill, well-knowledged and helpful. The hostel is mins walk from Assi ghat, bit off center, but besides that, I was happy with everything and would be happy to recommend to anyone.

enjoyed my stay here. one of the cheapest hostels in Varanasi but still has everything you need. Comfortable bed, shower, WiFi. one of the staff organised a boat tour in the morning with another guest which was very enjoyable and better price than at the Ghats itself. very close to assi ghat and a lot of food stalls, cafes, fruits and vegetables vendors nearby. would d...

The comfiest stay ive had in India! Unfortunately i was ill for a day whilst in Varanasi and the guys brought me water and a lovely cup of tea to my room!! They really looked after me!! Thankyou!! Its really clean too and has a good vibe of people. Also the tours they offer are well worth the money!!!

Absolutely loved this hostel! Its in a quiet part of Varanasi about a 3 min walk to Assi Ghat which is lovely and relaxed compared to the main ghats. The facilities were all good for the price. The selling point for this hostel is the staff! The team are the best. Nothing is too much and honestly after two months of budget guesthouses and hostels in India it was a rel...

Bliss locates near Assi Ghat and hides in a quiet and small alley. One could easily reach the ghats and river and also have some calm rest from the hustle and bustle of the town. Airport transportation, currency exchange and walk tours are available with reasonable prices. Helpful and friendly owner and staff. Recommend!

Varanasi was my first destination in India and as a solo female traveler I was ready to be overwhelmed. Shiva's was my haven- and the kindness and generosity I received there would rank it my best accommodation experience to date. Shiva is a lovely, open man who you can learn many things from. He always has time for his guests. The rooms are spotless and the location i...

The guesthouse is cheap and comfortable and the location is good, very close to the main Ghat. The rooftop cafe is a nice place to relax and has great views. Beware of fake guesthouses using the same name, the real Shanti is located near Manikarnika Ghat, turn left at underground cafe and Shanti is just up the stairs on your left.

value for money far from varanasi ghats, but close to station + beats tuktuk/ola/uber into ghats from airport. you can't enter during the day/early evening exceptionally clean unfortunately no hot water in our room, had to use the hostel's shared room bathroom for hot water.

Singh Guest House is a good choice for all of those decided to visit Varanasi. This place has a wonderful and peaceful garden has it can see on their pictures. Their rooms are clean and safe. Additionally, staff is helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place for everybody who wants to explore Varanasi culture hosted in a comfortable place.

Me and my Girlfriend had the most amazing time in Varanasi. This hostel is brilliant value for money with a lovely rooftop hangout spot located brilliantly near to assi Ghat. It really was one of our favourite hostels. The best thing about it is the hosts. In particular Navi was brilliant, a very kind and genuinely interested host. Always happy to meet our needs. When...

I stayed in zostel varanasi for 6 nights from 24/12/18 to 30/12/18. It is located in prime location so most of the ghats and temple are in the vicinity of zostel so you won't have to pay for transport every now and then. Staff members are very kind and helpful especially Akshita and Raj they will definitely help you in planning your trip in most eventful manner and ev...

I did not quite enjoy my stay at the hotel. I dont think its because of the hotel but due to its location. It is close to the Ghats but getting there through the side roads is a bloody nightmare. I would rather recommend for people to stay near the Main Ghat instead to avoid all these dirty side roads.

I booked a room in this hotel through Agoda.com. I came along with my family. It was a fabulous stay here at Golden Lodge. It is well located, i.e. it is very close to the highlights of the city- The Golden KahiVishwanath Temple and The Ganges, and also,it is just behind The KashiAnnapurna Temple in The world famous Vishwanath and Kalika Gali.Thogh the Galis are very co...

Very local experience where you can give back to the community. All proceeds go to educating children whose families cannot afford schooling. There is a classroom within the building where you can help or watch the classes. The accommodation is not the cleanest I've stayed in but is fine and the shower systems work well. The whole of Varanasi is very dirty so it's not ...

This guesthouse hide itself in a narrow dark alley. In Varanasi you lost your way even in daytime, you will properly need someone assistant to navigate here. Location GOOD 2 minutes walk to Ganges and 4 minutes walk to Dashashwamedh Ghat (main ghat in Varanasi) to see a group of priests daily in the evening perform "Agni Pooja", room cleanliness GOOD, bathroom GOOD, go...

We stayed in a 2 double beds room while visiting Varanasi, this guesthouse was our base to explore and enjoy the old city. The room and bathroom was adequately clean. The rooftop is nice with good breeze in the evening, the restaurant there prepares good food for good value, though albeit slow as there's only one cook that prepares everything fresh. Dinesh and staff ...

The location and staff is excellent. Rooms are good, well-maintained. Cleanliness outside guest house and in the street requires improvement by Varanasi Corporation or by all the guest houses located in the street along with proper lighting and good road. The food, breakfast and tea etc. outside the guest house is very good. For train users and connectivity with other...

I chose Elvis Guesthouse strictly because of its name (and because it had wifi) and it turned out to be the best decision of my entire trip. While it can be a little hard to find, once you do, you'll never lose your way. Most rickshaw drivers will know where it is, and if you get close by ad still have trouble finding it, the friendly shop owners nearby will gladly gu...

1. I booked a single room for several nights and the room is totally different from the photo. There is no window at the room. 2. The room is very dusty. It seems like not yet been lived for a long time. The cleaning lady just clean the table and chair for me without cleaning the floor, shelf etc. 3. The blanket and pillow sheet is really sticky. I saw them taking th...

This place is value for money Walking distance to main sites. You may have to walk 1.5 km to buy food. I advised the owner to get two bicycles for guests use. If he can also provide free tea for in the house that would be great, Thé owner Mohit is friendly and helpful.. I have enjoyed my stay, except the walking I had to do to buy food.

Everything was fabulous about this hotel, decor, cleanliness, wonderful beds, dining, except for the location. It's located outside of Varanasi, on the other side of the Ganges River to the ghats. If you're not with a tour, getting across the bridge to Varanasi in the slow, chaotic traffic, is a challenge. It's quite a distance from the airport, and a fairly expensive...

property is just 3-star type, overrated for 4-star. breakfast options are very less. staff are not at all courteous but some were helpful. too noisy we couldn't sleep in the night. better to avoid this as better options are available in Varanasi city. we could not know as it was our very first visit to Varanasi. reception staffs were misleading us and asked overpriced...

Clarks was the first tourist hotel in Varanasi and is showing its age. Rooms and decor are a bit tired. However, we found int comfortable and the service reasonable. arrived in varanasi after a lengthy train journey involving several delays. the hotel was exceptional in monitoring our train arrival time and arranging a collection for us from mughal serai station even though this was very early in the morning. we were met with a very warm welcome and ushered to our rooms without delay. as our time in varanasi was considerably reduc...

Incredible experience - the grounds are beautiful and you can enjoy a horse drawn carriage tour of the 40+ acres with Naseem who's father worked at the property as well his grandfather. Traveler impressions of Varanasi
Varanasi is the Holy City of the Hindus. It is one of the oldest city in the world. There are 2 main ghats along the banks of the Ganges - Manikarnika Ghat & Assi Ghat.
Just be prepared when you visit the Ghats. The burning of the corpse was really shocking but it's a different experience for me.
A lovely city with enormous historical interest, but the streets were filthy and could do with a major clean up.
This is one of the oldest cities in the world and home to the famous Kashinath temple and Sarnath. It should rank among the 100 places to see before you die.
An Ancient City over 4000 Years Old by the side of Sacred River Ganges. It has long Hindu Tradition and has lots of Temples build more than 4000 years ago.
Is a very spiritual city, Vishwanath temple is a must to see and the Ganges, you can shop and go also to the other temples.
Varanasi is a very complex city. Accepting what is, is what it is, is important. From the burning yards, to floating your dreams and memories down the Ma Ganges at Aarti.
The culture here smacks you in the face. Walk the length of the ghats for full affect. Restaurants very hard to find.
A very poor city with many desperate people and many touts. Only for the brave and very strong willed.
Varanasi, or Benares, is a holy pilgrimage site for Hindus, as the Ganges runs through it, and is considered a sacred place.
Varanasi is known for its religious significance. One should go for a boat ride at ganges, Kashi Vishwanath Temple as well as a visit to Sarnath.
I was in India for almost a month, and Varanassi was definately the highlight of my tour. It was peaceful and I learnt so much about the history and traditions of the place.
Religious and historical place, wonderful sandhya aarati at the ghat, visiting various ghats through boat, lots of good food to eat including traditional sweets like rabri & perra.
Varanasi est une ville qui fait partie de la culture indienne (hindouiste). Si le côté religieux vous intéresse, et vous voulez comprendre davantage pourquoi et comment les hindous vivent leur religion, cette ville est à voir.
sooo amazing the Ganges and watching the local people bathe in the holy water....very moving u could see they r completley believing that these waters are very spiritual, healing and miraculous.
Amazing sights along the Ganges of Ghatts and river. Varanasi is the dirtiest city we have been to so far in India.
Just because of ganges river and like to see around, not really clear city, but very dirty and crowded with people.
Check out the fort. Also do a tour of Benaras Hindu University (BHU) . Early morning (about 4 AM to 7 AM) is very different from the rest of the day.
Varanasi is religious city for hindus. It is also one of the oldest living city and it is really very lively city.
Varanasi is the most ancient and holy city of India. Here the main attractions are Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, Various Ghats specially Dashashwamav Ghat with Ganga Aarti, Bharat Hindu University, Sarnath etc.
Varanasi is an excellent place to realize the existence of ancient civilizations. The many temples and monuments such as Kashi Vishwanath Temple, New Vishwanath Temple, Ganges River, Kashi Visalatchi temple, Annapoorna Temple and ancient Buddhist Monastries and temples in Sarnath decorates the city with holiness and divinely feel.
Sarnat is a nice place to spend a morning or afternoon without the confusion of the streets of Varanasi.
Crazy but loveable, and one of the most "Indian" cities. A place to experience traditions and ways of life that are vanishing fast elsewhere
The most ancient city with attractions like Viswanath Temple, Ganga Ghats, Sankat Mochan Temple, Ramnagar, Sarnath etc.
Varanasi is not meant for everybody. Many will find it very dirty. But if you are travelling already a long time in India, than it is normal.
Beautiful city with a lot of history and culture. Its famous for the Ghats along the river Ganga that flows through the city.
There are many people in Varanasi, locals and tourists. If left the river side, it's quite easy to get lost in the alleys.
the dirtiest and most unfriendly place in India. Ghats are beautiful particularly from a boat. Major change of food born illness here, city is shocked by smog and ubiquitous burning trash.
Varanasi is a spiritual place more than anything else.It is a Hindu pilgrimage city, and as such it is the highlight of the stay in Varanasi.
Varanasi is a place you will either love or hate, it has very narrow streets and alleyways and is very crowded.
