My experience of staying at Nicolaas Witsen was extremely enjoyable, it is ideally located for exploring Amsterdam. The staff were very knowledgeable of the local area and had useful access to tram tickets and bike hire. There is an airport shuttle bus that picks up from the hotel that was very efficient too. Although the rooms are small this is what to expect in Amsterdam. They contained everything that you needed and the beds were extremely comfortable. The shower was large enough and very clean. One of the best bits of the stay was the breakfast. The staff serving it were so polite and they had a wide variety of cheese and cereals. Enough choice for any traveller. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anybody looking for comfortable and good value travel.

Great Experience ”
My sister and I decided to book the hotel for our first trip to Amsterdam. It was easily one of the more reasonably priced hotels in the heart of the city. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My sister and I had a twin room so we both had a twin bed. The beds were very small, however they were comfortable and we were able to sleep well. I would recommend staying here for anyone who is going on a trip to Amsterdam!

Location make it an easy walk to the historic area of Amsterdam. Hotel has an elevator. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Quiet. My room was the smallest. I knew that prior to booking. It was a well planned room. Totally met my needs. I will return to this hotel on my next visit to Amsterdam.

This little hotel is a jewel in downtown Amsterdam. My room, although small, was perfect for a single traveler. Clean, comfortable bed, good TV, and an excellent breakfast were all part of the price, and the staff was very accommodating. I felt very safe in this neighborhood, and a great cafe was right around the corner. Very close to public transportation, too!

The hotel was lovely and clean and in a nice quiet area but not far from local trams and in walking distance to the centre of Amsterdam. The check in was fast and simple. The staff were friendly and attentive. Would stay again.

The rooms are tine but well organized. The location is everything! Nestled in a neighborhood of homes, cafes and parks, you can get anywhere in Amsterdam fast. Metro, tram and canals are steps away. It’s walking distance to major sites. The staff is well educated on sites to see and always available to help.

Very great experience. The price is affordable, and the location is good. Not far away from the city center and is quiet at night. So I can have a good sleep during the night. Also, the people there are very nice and helped me a lot.

On this occasion looking for a good value base to explore from. Hotel staff very friendly, hotel is 3 star so not all the facilities but very clean and comfortable. For the money a great experience.

Perfectly adequate and well located”
The room was small compared to hotels in North America and the bath was much smaller with not a lot of space to put your toiletries, however, the room was clean, quiet, safe, comfortable. The staff were helpful. The location was very good - easy to walk to museums and restaurants/pubs/parks, etc.

Good location, trams at the end of the road stopped at midnight and then it was very quiet. Friendly, helpful staff were a delight. Breakfasts were plentiful with eggs three ways + pancakes , croissants, breads, ham, cheese, fruit - wonderful choice! Our bedroom quiet, smallish but very comfortable and clean. The city amenities are with walking distance with public transport if required just 5-10 mins away. There is an excellent delicatessen two doors away and an Albert Heijns supermarket 10 min walk away. We had a very enjoyable holiday with staff helping to make bookings etc.

Construction begin at 6am. Manager not take responsibility ”
Very loud noise . Not possible to sleep.. we felt the workers are on our window. When we talk to the manager of the hotel he insist that its not his job to know about it and to warn the costumers because that's the way it is in Amsterdam

I remember our conversation and want to let you know again that we did not had any renovations in our hotel while you were staying with us. Probably you heard some noise from a renovation somewhere else in our street or in the neighbourhood. There are a lot of renovations going on in Amsterdam, especially in the city centre of Amsterdam. Also our city government is working hard to renew a lot of roads and bikepads. This is needed to keep the city as nice as it is. I am sorry for any inconvenience. Usually there are no renovation works in the weekends and maybe it is good to know that all our windows have double glass. When the window is closed the room has a good sound issolation from any noise from outside. After all, I hope you did enjoy your stay in our beautifull city. Best regards, Alex

Pros - staff could not be more helpfull. Nothing was too much trouble! Excellent position for trams to museum's , Rembrandt square & central highlights. Situation was quiet at night. Short walk to good local cafe and allong canals to restaurants. Free WiFi. Cons - group of 4 were sharing. one bathroom was very small and would be difficult to access for anyone with mobility issues. Our friends bathroom was fine. Twin bed a bit close together and could not be moved but not really an issue. No phone charging points so take travel plugs.

Tram stops few hundred mtrs either direction and easily navigated to everywhere. €17.50 for a 3 day ticket at central station was well worth it and trams dont take cash. €5 for train from airport worth it as taxi can be a rip off. Staff are very helpful when u ask for help or directions.
