new york was recovering from the devastation of hurricane sandy when we stayed at hotel vetiver. i tried this hotel due to the good reviews written in many websites. it is located in a very quiet community and nearby are 2 subway stations that brings you to downtown manhattan in a few minutes and 1 ride to jfk. the room (double bed) is huge by new york standards. beds and linens are so clean, size and quality for a 5-star hotel. unfortunately, we missed the complimentary breakfast for waking up too late. what's best about hotel vetiver is its staff. the porters, front desk officers, room service can't be described merely as "friendly." they are a family! they don't only go about their individual duties promptly and attentively; what i love most about their staff is the personal touch that makes one feel at home. they start a conversation and we as guests just find ourselves immersed in such happy talk by the time we walk to our rooms, we're still laughing. they wouldn't mind doing everything and anything to make our stay in their hotel most pleasant. one staff even volunteered to forward to my home country a package that did not come on time while we were there. i emphasize here: she volunteered without my asking! maybe she saw too much worry on my face for the late delivery but what really matters is her attentiveness in solving my problem instantly. in my future trips to new york, no more searching is necessary. hotel vetiver is one place you'd love to stay in whenever you visit the big apple. this i have to spread around to my family, friends and colleagues who want the best value for their money while getting the service that put to shame 5-star hotels in manhattan!

We have stayed here many times to visit a daughter in Astoria and attend the US Open in Queens, and there is no other place I book when coming to NYC. It's a short subway ride into Manhattan, and there's an excellent restaurant just up the street (Dutch Kills Central) for drinks and an evening meal or Sunday brunch. The hotel is spotless, the rooms have everything you need and they are clean, well appointed and a few have amazing views of the City and the Queensboro bridge, especially at night. The rates are far ore affordable than Manhattan,and there are several parking places nearby if you're driving. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and always willing to help. I've stayed in many other hotels in Long Island City, and this one is BY FAR THE BEST.

This hotel is a good one, value for money. Staffs are good and cooperative. The best part is, it is very near to Queensboro Plaza subway station, walkable distance of 4 min. approx. From there you can move to any place. Check in time is 3 pm. So we submitted our luggage and took subway train to Battery island to visit statue of Liberty and Ellis island. From JFK airport it is little far, around 40 min in cab with fare approximately 45 dollar.

If you are a group traveling on a budget, Best Western Plaza Hotel in Long Island City is for you. My kids and I stayed in a queen suite for 5 nights. The staff were helpful, courteous and attentive, the room was always kept clean, and the location is a mere 3 minutes walk to the nearest Metro station. But what takes the cake is the breakfast buffet, spartan but filling, and not just your ordinary muffin and coffee variety. There are eggs, cereal, pancakes, tater tots, sausage, fresh fruits -- not really what you would expect from a budget hotel. Other amenities include a gym, soda, snack, and ice machines, bottomless coffee, tea, and cold water in the lobby, guest parking within the hotel premises, free map of the city upon arrival, free internet and printing in their lobby! I don't think I have anything negative to say about this hotel, and I've stayed in all kinds as I travel a lot. I'm a very happy and satisfied fan! I will definitely stay here when I visit NYC again.

The hotel is situated very conveniently close to numerous subway stations with quick commute to Manhattan. The rooms were small but very adequate, the hotel breakfast was plentiful (porridge, donuts, bagels, mcmuffins, eggs, sausages, joughurt, juices, coffee, fruit, cereal, waffles) and the staff very helpful! We stayed for 10 days and before the last night my boyfriend got weird bites all over his body in the morning. We are still not sure if it was from the hotel (I have no bites at all!) but the hotel staff were extremely helpful and quick to react. We immediately got a new room and they started investigating in case the bug bites were from the hotel. The cleaning was not so perfect in the hotel and there were minor issues with the room (toilet lock didn't work in either of the rooms we had, the toilet had some problems flushing sometimes and the tv remote did not work in the second room) but all in all I felt like we got our moneys worth. It is very sad about the bugs because otherwise I would have definitely given the hotel a perfect review! I hope the bites came from somewhere else and had nothing to do with the hotel, since we had 8 nice nights with no issues before that. Thank you to the staff for quickly reacting to our inquiries about possible bed bugs, which they did without hesitation, even if there had apparently never been any issues with bugs in the hotel before.

We stayed at Paper Factory for 7 nights on 28th August – 4th September 2016. The hotel was based at 36th Street subway station and is directly across the road from the Hotel. This was extremely convenient. We were a bit weary of staying at this hotel because of its location, however, it really was a 10-15 minute subway journey to Times Square and approximately a 10 min journey to areas such as 5th Avenue and Herald Square (Macy’s). We were extremely impressed of how quick we could get to/from central NYC back to our hotel. The hotel has a 7-11 beside it, which is really convenient. In addition to this, there is a supermarket which sells everything ‘American’. This was really good for purchasing snacks for your room or edibles to back take home for gifts. There is also a McDonalds, Subway, Panera Bread and Wing Stop about 10 minute walk away. The hotel staff we friendly and polite – however, we had an issue with our hotel room door (Room 411). For some reason, the door would open itself (or somebody was opening it with a master key). This happened on several occasions and we could never catch the person who was doing this. This was reported to the hotel twice and I was told that the cameras would be checked, but I never heard anything back from them and no action was taken. With regards to our room, we were pretty happy with it! We got it for an extremely good price at approximately £100 per night (which is pretty cheap for a NYC hotel), so we couldn’t really complain! It was a clean and spacious room. The shower was very big and we were happy with the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and we had a very large window which gave us a lovely view of the city. The only downfall to this, was that the safe in our room did not work and it was never replaced by staff/housekeeping – luckily nothing was taken! The highlight of the hotel would be the lounge on the 4th floor. This lounge consisted of a vending machine, 2 large refrigerators, an ice machine, microwaves, TV,

This hotel is very clean, which I think is the most important factor when choose a hotel. Nice partial view of Manhatten skyline. The hotel provides free shuttle to subway stations, every 30 minutes. And when you come back they will pick you up from the station. If your booking doesn't include breakfast, I wouldn't bother paying extra for their buffet. Instead you can order a delivery from the nearby restaurants, the hotel can provide you with menus. The room lightness isn't enough. If you travel with a baby they charge 25 per day for an infant crib, too much! People are very nice and helpful. Good choice if you want a clean hotel close to Manhatten with a reasonable price.

Decent sized rooms , clean, lovely shower, and we had a view of Empire state and Chrysler building. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice....you can even have filled doughnuts or make your own giant waffles. 10 minute walk to long island city ferry terminal ;$2.75 one way to Wall street terminal. The ferries are a great way to see the manhattan shoreline. Room cleaned every day, and abundant clean towels. Nice hotel....would stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for one night. Room was clean and comfortable, although beds were too soft for out taste. Our room was on the 7th floor and on Monday morning we did hear noise coming from the street, but it wasn't so bad. We were able to find street parking right in front of the hotel, with many more empty spots peppered throughout neighborhood. We were able to leave our car at the same spot the next day (Monday) while we spent the day in Manhattan. There are no parking regulations in the neighborhood other than Thursday and Friday street cleaning. I am going to assume than on those days it might be a bit difficult to find street parking. Walking distance to the subway station was just over 5 min. Very nice hotel and very convenient to subway station and for parking. We will stay here again.

This is a great hotel to stay at when the Manhattan hotels are too expensive. Located between two subway stations with another two stations within walking distance and several food stores close by. Serves a good breakfast, it's very clean and the staff is great. The water pressure is weak on the 9th floor, but that's about the only bad thing I have to say about the hotel.

We recently stayed in the Quality Inn LIC. Our stay was v good. Only 2 or 3 stops from Manhattan (subway). The price was v good and location was great as a cheap base without spending Manhattan prices.Breakfast was included, also free use of internet, free newspapers and free tea & coffee 24 hours. Area wasn'y anything special. Subway lines nearby. The area is undergoing a lot of building work, Staff were v helpful. A special mention to Bibi, Cyre and the lad behind reception. They were v attentive, informative and helpful. Hotel isn't luxurious but suitable as a clean convenient base. Area ia quiet to walk round at night but we didn't feel unsafe. Good takeout pizza place next door. Would have no hesistation in returning. Personally would give it a 9/10 based on price, location & experience.

Pros: - Few minutes’ walk to the train stations. - Quite a few cafes in the vicinity. Dunkin’ Donuts is just nearby and there’s a food truck on the right when you walked out from the hotel, good for supper before heading back to rest. Cons: The customer service was horrible. We stayed here for 6 nights. We’ve already paid for the room in Agoda prior to our stay and it was non-refundable, so didn’t switch hotels. On the day of our arrival, we were second in queue to check in to our room. There were two receptionists and one of them who wasn’t serving anyone, was keeping her head down. We thought she wasn’t on shift or busy and waited. However, a third couple was walking from the lift towards the counter and she gestured them to go to her. She assisted them to check out immediately and only served us after that couple as her colleague was still handling the first couple. Is that right when we had waited in the queue? The frustrating thing was, she gave us the room key and didn’t not bother to tell us anything else, e.g. where the restaurant was and etc. We had 4 luggage and a couple of bags with us and she didn’t even offer any help when there weren’t anymore guests at the counter. When we asked if there’s any porter service, she told us, “Take the luggage trolley”. She didn’t bother to answer our question properly and she gave a ‘can’t be bothered’ face and attitude throughout. On the second day, my partner’s feet were swollen and we called the reception to ask for ice. We were told to go to level one to get ice ourselves. We went down but there was no one at the counter and we couldn’t find the ice machine anywhere. We checked with the security who told us where the ice machine was. However, we have to get the ice container from our room and use it to collect the ice. The funny thing was, the ice container wasn’t even in our room and shouldn’t the reception show or at else tell us over the phone where the ice machine was? The next day, we went to the

After they heard that someone of us had birthday,they offered as two free drinks at the bar and free breakfast for every single day !!! The breakfast is small but totally okay for a good start into the day !! The hotel view over Manhattan is incredible and wonderful!! We fell in love with it !!! Area is super safe and 3 different subway stations are nearby which brings you everwhere in NYC. It only takes you 15 min by subway to times square !! And don't miss the rooftop !! We visited NYC in winter and just enjoyed the view from the terrace but I can imagine that it might be wonderful to sit there in the summer and to enjoy a cold drink there !!! I can just recommend the whole hotel !! It was amazing . and special thanks to the front desk man called Shah who treated us like queens !

Hotel has easy access to subway, nothing much immediately around the hotel as it is a developing area with many new developments coming up which will change the place soon. The subway made it easy for our family of 3 to get to all parts of New York that I wanted to see plus more. Hotel is pretty clean and well managed as the only thing to consider is breakfast time as it could get busy at certain time that we ended up bring food to our room but plenty of food to share among all the guests , just the timing when they serve certain food that runs out faster than others. We feel safe walking to and from the Queens Plaza subway station.
