This centrally located hotel near Ketapang ferry terminal and city center offers exceptional service and excellent amenities for a delightful stay. The room is spacious and clean. There is a balcony in each room. The facilities are quite complete. The parking is spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant area is also large, with a variety of food options for breakfast. The location is strategic in the city center. At night, there is a kind of street food stall in front of the hotel, where you can order various types of food or sit and have coffee. Definitely coming back!
I love giving a glowing review as I know how much it helps with bookings. However, I can’t do it here. There are pros and cons to this place Travelling overnight from Bali to Surabaya we decided to stay here for comfort, restaurant and pool. We paid a mid range room rental- quite high for Indonesia and were hoping for a good quality stay. Pro’s: Aircon is effective and quiet. The place is clean. The breakfast was actually ok with lots of choices to fit various cuisine. Rooms are a good size with lots of surfaces for luggage. Cons: the atmosphere here was odd and chilly and not very customer friendly. It seemed that the overall infrastructure was in disarray. We enjoy friendly mutually respectful relations in all of our stays across Bali, Thailand and other SE Asian countries. Here however, although we were offered a paper token for a welcome drink, (a thimble full -just to get us into the bar methinks ) the actual sense of being really welcome was sorely missing. Although the staff seemed well turned out, there was a combination of ‘high status’ and nervousness which seemed to make it hard for either they, or us, to feel comfortable. It began as our taxi entered the parking area and was screened with a mirror under the chassis by the security guard.A strange first encounter. What were they checking for - bombs? Really odd. Even the taxi driver found it strange. We were given a room on the 9th floor having asked for a quiet room specifically stating that we needed to sleep and rest, and on trying to access the balcony we saw a sign saying that we had to call reception to unlock it. No worries- safety first I guess. after our swim we hung our wet swimming costumes (4 pieces) on the 9th floor balcony to dry as we were travelling early next day(having tied them securely onto the railings). No drying rack is supplied on the balcony- nor any furniture. My husband was woken in the middle of sleeping to request that he take them down. When he asked why, he was told repeatedly that ‘it is the rules’ and no solution was offered. You have to be looking very hard to see black swimsuits drying on iron railings on the 9th floor. He mentioned that they were securely tied on but was told ‘it is the rules’ Obviously we complied, but eventually solved our issue ourselves by placing the only chair from the room on the balcony and drying our wet things on that. No mention of a laundry service or drying rack or any extra help that we might access. On to dinner - after a long day travelling we were hungry. The restaurant offerings were lacklustre with only one vegetarian option. We tried the pizza and it was just ok. No other venues in the area looked accessible or appealing to eat. Staff, whilst smiling and going through the motions were not warm or overly customer facing. Though there were seemingly lots of staff, the restaurant was very slow and slightly chaotic. Later we tried the bar on the 11 floor then as food seemed slow in arriving, went down to floor 3 where the restaurant and kitchen were. French fries took 30 mins to arrive, even though we were the only customers in the restaurant in the early evening. The waiter seemed to be disorientated to even find customers in the restaurant at all. The floor was being cleaned with a big industrial cleaner but we didn’t mind. We decided it was fine to take a table outside. No problem at all. On ordering something as simple as sparkling water, we were informed that it was ‘sold out’ and when I chose a second drink that also seemed to be a complication that needed checking in whether they had ingredients. In the end I gave credit to the waiter who managed to improvise some ginger water as ginger ale was also off the menu. There seemed to be a general air of consternation and slight disapproval that we were there at all, to the point where I had to ask ‘is the restaurant even open’ to which the waiter replied ‘ the restaurant is open 24 hours’. Been several times staying here. Either with family or group of friends, it was always an enjoyable stay. Room is spacious so it's very nice compared to other city hotel. Bed is comfy. Interiors a bit old and need refurbishment but otherwise well-maintained and clean. The view from the room is just lovely. Somehow I always ended up with room with ocean view. Haha The rooftop bar is pretty nice and offers beautiful night scenery of the city. Very recommended.
Hotel Illira yang terletak di ujung timur jawa di Banyuwangi, memberikan pemandangan yang tak terlupakan. Sebelum kedatangan, saya request di lantai 10 dan ternyata view nya laut dan itu bagus sekali! Kebersihan nya bagus dan pelayanan staff nya sangat baik. Menginap 2 malam, ketika pergantian hari hotel dibersihkan, handuk nya diganti dengan yang baru. Pokoknya illira is the best. Ketika keluar lift pemandangan disebelah kiri itu adalah pelabuhan Ketapang dan Bali Barat. Sarapannya sangat beragam, menunya macam-macam. Di lantai 11 terdapat bluefire skylounge yaitu, cafe yang mempunyai pemandangan kaca panoramic yang lebar. Sehingga bisa melihat view jalanan dan laut dengan Indah. Lounge nya punya 2 balkon yang satunya menghadap daerah pelabuhan Ketapang dan Bali Barat. Pokoknya kalo ke Banyuwangi illira tempat stay nya.

“Exceptional”
First time staying at Illira with family & booked 2 rooms with a connecting door. Booked online about 3 hours before arrival and the rooms were ready with the special request for the connecting door. The hospitality staff was extraordinary, quick to assist and even offered wheelchairs for family members in need. The facilities were very good, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was delicious. I will definitely return to stay here if I visit Banyuwangi again.
