Best hotels & accommodations in South West, England

From the moment our car approaching the hotel the hotel staff is coming up to gree us, smooth checking in, valet parking, handling our luggages to each room, showing us the hotel facilities, guiding us to each rooms, showing our point of interests and providing guidance with local map. When we use the hotel mineral hot spring bath pool the staff provide us with bathing...

They upgraded our room and while I have no idea what our initial room was supposed to be like, this room knocked us off our feet. If I were to stay there again, no matter the cost I would 100% book this room (or probably any room in the main house as I assume they are all the same). The room was huge and made us feel as if we were royalty. The massive bathroom has a do...

Best apartment that we booked and stayed at bath. Very well equipped room with a full kitchen. The room is very huge with a small corridor connecting the main room and the toilet after the main door. The toilet has a bathtub too. After entering the main room, we felt like home sweet home. The room is with a king size bed, a small living room with a dining/dressing tabl...

I have stayed at the hotel 5 times since 2012 and was surprised that the price was so cheap I bokked for 52 the night before for a room However once I arrived I understood why ! The room we was given was extremely sub standard and poor and look unkept as well as smelling very damp That said once I cpmplained I was moved to a room on the third floor that was what...

The location is a BIG plus - a few minutes walk from the Railway & Bus Station, The Roman Bath, the shopping district. The service was five star and breakfast provided was very good. What we need was there in the room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside is some noises like furniture being moved above our room like 6am in the morning (Room 117) Neve...

Wonderful, we were late in the evening, they left the keys out for us with a lovely note explaining everything! They have a dvd collection we could borrow as well down stairs as well as still or sparkling water in the room! It just felt that every tiny detail had been really well thought out and also gave off the impression of a very luxurious hotel dispite only being...

Our stay at the Hilton was good. The staff were of various nationalities; on the odd occasion staff didnt know what we were talking about but this was quickly sorted out. One small downside was our first evening meal in Atelier; my Beef Bourginon was dry and tasted like old meat added to the stew mix. We ordered desserts and the wrong items came out. One dessert was t...

My daughter and I stay the night before a university interview. This is a new business hotel well located for Bristol City Center. Very clean & beds were 4 star hotels standard. We asked for a room away from noise to get a good night sleep. We did fly in from Asia & my girl need to recover. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. They took time to find a good m...

Everything about Bailbrook was wonderful. They made the most of every inch of space that they were allowed to change. This is an historic building so rules constrain what they can do to it. That being said, our room was about 12x12 yet it held 2 twin beds, 2 chairs, a desk, TV and fireplace, had a super bathroom and a closet with a dresser. The common area was comfy ...

Cecil Court is a lovely, clean hotel with very friendly staff. The room was spacious and clean, with plenty of towels and extra pillows provided. The staff were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is in a great location - less than 15 mins from pretty much everything that Bournemouth has to offer. I booked the hotel as a last minute t...

We stated in 'Grove Suite', room 2218. We did not expect such a room but we were all very pleased with this. The room is huge, and the bed even bigger! Beds very comfy, bathroom nice and clean. Added extras such as ironing board, iron and turbo hairdryer was appreciated. Only snag would be is that the hot water for the shower takes quite a while to come on. We had to l...

Perfect location though and easy access to city center of bath. Service was great and very helpful. No elevators, wifi, and dining area is closed, but the bar was open and it was fairly cheap. The staff was friendly. The room was clean and spacious, with a 4 poster bed with lovely bedding, tea and coffee facilities, and there was a bathtub. Over all we had a nice time...

Lovely hotel and service it good. When we book the room from agoda. for double room.. we check in at the hotel. they are upgrade us to the Hendra suite. That it amazing and how the hotel to please for customer to do that so. I can say that this hotel it the best for our holiday to stay overthere. Staff nice to help you and kind to ask you if you need something they...

This was what it was, cheap room, but great facilities, staff very helpful and friendly, great breakfast, would defiantly stay again, small down points were we started in a room where the twin beds had been joint together, but they weren't level, we mentioned it, they moved our room no trouble, and a couple of discrepancies , 1st room even though bed wasn't great, had ...

Fire on site at 7am meant we could not use the swimming g pool at 10 am, as apparently the fire team would not let them.in the chemical store . Disappointed as we only booked thus hotel due to swimming pool. Staff were lovely. Gave us free coffee, muffins and waived the car park fees . As we had a VW transporter and it would not fit u der car park barrier, they let us ...

Excellent hotel. Cannot beat location as right opposite terminal building. Room was excellent with everything you could want and more. Even an iron and ironing board (full size) was very useful as my coat had become very creased on coach. Did not have the breakfast as we were flying very early but noted the cooked breakfast started at 6.00am and buffet at 4.30am. Check...

The hotel room was clean and spacious we had a double bed and a single bed. The breakfast was brilliant we had a cold option along with a hot option the food was fresh we had toast with avocado, salmon and poached egg. The staff in reception and at breakfast were all very professional and couldn’t do enough. They took our bags and assisted my parents to there room whi...

After booking the room, my friends and I thought we would be in a small room of one double bed and a sofa bed for two people (as the room was described). We arrived at the hotel and it was to our pleasant surprise that the room was a suite with enough beds to even fit six people! It was excellent value for money.

It was good. I booked for a massage and pedicure. I got 20% off. It was very good procedure and she was very nice. I didn't eat on restaurant in evening and preferred the less formal Cafe Bar. My meal was delayed and I was offered a drink on the house. The location to the BIC is perfect as I was going there on my own. The doenside to this lovely hotel is the h...

the location could be considered far given that Bath is a small place, the hotel could be reached in 10-15mins walk. As we arrived we discovered a bus stop right in front of the hotel heading to train station so it won't be a problem leaving with heavy baggages. We arrived pretty late after 8pm, but the host was still there for us which we appreciated. The room had al...

I travelled for business, but also part family visit from Australia. I landed on the Sunday at 5am at Heathrow and headed to the De Vere once if collected my hire car arriving at around 9am. The Indonesian lady who checked me in went above and beyond what I would have expected as I knew my room potentially wouldn’t be ready due to check out times of those already stay...

We only needed to stop one night and didn't want to stay in a 3-star+ hotel as we were booking in late and leaving early the next morning. The young lady in Reception was extremely pleasant, efficient, and helpful. The room was basic but had everything we needed. It was clean and had a kettle, mugs, hairdryer, and good-quality towels. The heating was efficient and sh...

I had stayed here before and really enjoyed it. My second visit didn't change my opinion. The rooms are done to a high standard and I have found the whole experience to be quiet and peaceful (I specifically book the basement rooms). The staff couldn't do enough for you. Very friendly reception. Breakfast is served in a wonderfully light room with fresh flowers on the ...

Appreciate this is a more budget type hotel but it would have been nice to have had a restaurant for evening meals to save going out. There was a snack menu with pizza etc on it but not the same as having a proper restaurant but I guess that is what a Hampton hotel is about. Really nice room with view over beach from the 5th floor, great shower, everything you needed...

The Hilton in Bournemouth was good and decent. Location is excellent and breakfast was great. Rooms are spacious. The only thing that I didn't like was the car park. It costed us £10 per day (or £13 for the weekend). There is also no direct access to the hotel. You have to walk outside in order to get to the hotel entrance. We had two heavy luggages with us and it...

Great location, right in the heart of the city, friendly professional staff, lovely room with everything you could need. Breakfast was very nice, good choice and very good quality. Overal a very nice stay and much nicer than the Premier Inns I normally stay in for the same price, a no brainier really, what's stopping you, book it up!!!

A beautiful old house, which could potentially be a fantastic hotel, I stayed in a very nice suite no 28 The Drawing Room. A lot of money has clearly been spent furnishing the hotel and rooms , however my stay was spoiled slightly by some small but annoying details. However to really be a luxury establisment these small details are important. Firstly the windows in my...

We stayed for one night and booked online. Very warm welcoming from all on reception and the location was great. We stayed in a double room and it was spotless with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was well equipped and we will be booking here again as always travel for work. P.s : the only thing missing was a couple of biscuits for the tea. Please get some in as...

My mom and I travelled to Bath for one night and came across Bay Tree House. The room suited all our needs and had tea and biscuits en suite. We arrived past normal check-in but it was really easy to gain access to the apartment and park in vicinity to the place. The breakfast in the morning was superb and the best we had while in England. Everything was exceedingly fr...

From arrival to departure, you were made to feel incredibly welcome. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this Apsley House. The Staff are friendly and helpful, the room and grounds were spotless, we wanted for nothing, even Molton Brown Bodywash, Handwash and Shampoo were provided, tea, coffee, etc were replenished daily too. I currently need to follow a s...

Staying at YHA was a great experience. The staff was amazing - extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The location is within walking distance of some amazing hiking and the bus stops. On top of it all, the breakfasts they make are delicious and filling!

It’s like the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in my journey this time. But just three downsides, 1. There’s no lift, and you really need to take many stairs till you get to your room. So, if you really have heavy luggages, you can choose others now. 2. The toilet is quiet far. The room I stayed is far from the toilet. I do need to go up and down to get there. So if you ne...

As with all YHAs, don't expect 5 star luxury, however, the facilities were all clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable. The only worrying thing was the fire alarm went offin the early hours of the morning for no apparent reason. There was no fire....but there didn't seem to be any evacuation processes either? Other than that, it was pretty good.

I got a room facing the beach and was at the far end of corridor so it's quiet, but then really it depends on the people staying in your room and whether it's the weekend too! Like that the staffs are very friendly and nice. Also good surf school partnered just down the pub so good for trying out surfing during my stay!

I stayed in a female dorm for 6 nights. The room was clean and the bed were comfortable. Even on the day when I was the only one staying in the room and nobody checked out, the staff kept the room clean everyday and it was quite impressive how much time they spend on cleaning the whole hostel and organising things. They also have a lovely kitchen with 2 ovens and a mic...

I stayed at this motel for 12 nights. Excellent and value for money for the bag-packers! located in the heart of Bristol. Convenient to all sorts of shops i.e food, shopping bus station, local bars&clubs,off-licensee shops, midnight kebab eateries and many. The motel's cleanliness was not bad but, i have to give 5 stars to the friendly staffs who never fail to provide the...

Amazing view of the sunset and a scenic walk into st just. Internet was good and if you couldn’t connect you could still use 4G. Some of the bunks come with plug socket and USB ports at the bedside. Only cons are there isn’t someone from yha there all the time and the B road to get down there is one lane wide, even my satnav told me to give up and walk the rest of the ...

Location is perfect. It's situated right in the middle of all the major attractions and you can easily walk to the north, east, south and west from there. I found out that if you walk in and get a room instead of booking ahead, it's actually much cheaper. However, that is a risk you'll have to take as this location is really worth your money. Better to just book ahead ...

It was a good stay, clean simple hotel, value for money, friendly staff, towels can be rented at £1 each, do bring your own toiletries.. Situated right beside a church, its close to Wetherspoons Restaurant Pub, the sea, a fudge store, and a LIDL store not far from the place..

Rural village, hills, river, country lanes, walking paths - all just there. Hostel a cosy place, friendly staff, clean kitchen. Cloud internet sometimes totally disappeared and mobile signals are far. So better to be aware of this little problem. Horses, sheeps, bulls nearby. On the countrylane bulls can come very close and start to run so better to be there by car or ...

We enjoyed our 3night break at the YHA,so going to miss the sunset and listening to the sea when drifting off to sleep.but there's only one niggle, the toilet did need to have the floor cleaned as it smelt of wee.but will come back again too stay.

Boscastle is a nice and quiet place where you can almost escape the world. The YHA was a relaxing place to sleep and recharge myself. It is a bit hard to find if you don't know exactly where to look and has no Wifi (and while in Boscastle my mobile had no service) but those were the only two small downsides to the stay. The place is clean and comfortable, and the staff...

This was absolutely fine considering the cost of under 50 pounds. The room was generally clean, the bedding and towels were pristine white and the bathroom spotless. The public areas we used were clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the sea veiw. Little touches like plates and cutlery to eat take aways on the verandah were nice. Excell...

Brilliant (as already described in this review) stayed one night, wish it could have been longer. Pool wasn't working but was given access to the facilities at the Queen's Hotel and Spa across the road (spa bath, sauna, steam room and pool) which was the highlight of my stay! Best Western has a pool but was told not the other facilities. For this reason, although Best W...

We enjoyed out stay at the hotel but didn't not think it was worth the £80 per night we paid for it, the room was very small and this was not stated when I booked it, the heat was unbearable, we did have small fans ( two of in the end ) but these were not sufficient, we felt quite ill at times. I believe they would benefit with air con especially in that room. Also ...

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. Modest and homely, we enjoy the breakfasts including the uniforms and the manners of the waiters. We like the pool but would like the hours to be earlier, 8:30 open does not allow travellers the pleasure of an early morning swim. The rooms, although modest, are comfortable and convenient. We love it that we can le...

staff pretending that they don't see you only one lady during check-in was nice, the rest doe not seem to be interested or even look at you when you are passing by, no wi-fi in rooms !!! there is actually a good reception, but staff at this hotel thinks that access to wi-fi should be allowed only in communal areas (???) it is 3 min away from the beach and 5 -...

We stayed at the Brooks guest house as a base for a weekend break to celebrate my 40th and to make a start on Christmas shopping in bath as the shopping areas accommodate all needs in a concentrated area. The Brooks guest house is located a close 10mins walk from the main centre and easily within comfortable walking distance so No need to worry about parking or taxis e...

We loved the Osbourne Hotel. The setting was amazing. It has an outside swimming pool, but this does need a spruce up. Was great when sun out. Downside was not having a good value restaurant in the evenings. If Grill Terrace was available in restaurant when weather colder would be great, as you are very limited for eating out here when not using car. Even when we s...

We spent 2-4 days in each of 6 places in Southern England, and this was our favorite of all of them. Sadly, this was one of the places we stayed only 2 days. It felt luxurious in the bedroom, the bathroom, and the breakfast. We parked on the street and left stuff in the car without a worry. It was quiet, public transportation was easy, and the staff was friendly and he...

This apartment was booked only a few days before. My son was attending an open day at University of West of England. The apartment was ok, except for the balcony - it was about a foot wide, but also made of concrete. sitting in the lounge, the concrete balcony blocked any view out of the window. I think only 2 apartments had this and we did book on the last minute, but...

We booked a smaller room as we were only staying one night. Room was very clean, nicely decorated in a contemporary style and bed comfortable. Only issues were a strange smell in the room ( possibly something to do with the windows?) and the very small sink in the bathroom. I could see why but it really was impossible to use for washing or shaving. Shower caps were ava...

If you want to visit Bath but avoid the crowds, expensive city centre hotels and all the hustle and bustle then The Waterhouse is for you. Located in peaceful countryside just a 10 minute drive into the city centre with clean and spacious rooms, very comfortable beds, good facilities and free WiFi. Best of all - total quiet for a good nights sleep. Accommodation is 'ro...

Very well located for the BIC, staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel room was excellent, very spacious, quiet and spotlessly clean and comfortable. Would happily recommend to family and friends. Probably the nicest hotel, staff and service we have ever booked. Loved our stay.

I have stayed here before and it is an excellent hotel. The staff are exceptionally helpful and polite, the restaurant is great (not cheap, but high quality) and the decor is boutique. On this occasion however, we were allocated to a room with a very small double bed. I measured it and it was 4 feet across. Neither myself nor my partner are very large, but we still fou...

Given the booking deal I got from Agoda I was very pleased with this hotel and the standards were what I expected for this type of hotel. Very minor item was that the wireless was a little bit patchy at times but this could be down to room location or occupancy of the hotel. Staff very polite, pleasant surprise to find ground coffee and not just the usual instant in t...

We were totally pleased to have chosen this property for so many reasons....the welcoming staff, the ambience and furnishings, comfortable large rooms and the location. Breakfast was very good with choices and served in a large dining room with attentive staff. Our room was large and tastefully furnished. The bathroom was large too and had a skylight. We were able to g...

I havent stayed in a Novetel for a while and was not really convinced by making this booking. However it was a competitive price and I do not regret it. Rooms are large, well equipped. Reception is spacious and restaurants seems fine - although I did not test it. It did not look as an "industry" hotel without personality. I did notice the Gym that looks fine. Bad ...

Great find! 5 mins walk from the station. Small but very clean and modern room. The views of the beautiful cathedral from the window was just perfect. The gym is very big and opens 24 hours, but the best no doubt was the amazing breakfast at the brick building, one of the best buffets I've had in England, totally recommend!

Hotel du Vin is known throughout the UK as a quirky 'boutique-ish' hotel (it is not small like most boutiques - but scores high in intelligent design and bespoke environments). This Hotel du Vin in Exeter was no exception to that rule - bespoke with heated swimming pool where the water moves gently between the indoors and outdoors, excellent REN spa treatments (and pr...

Hotel is in a really cool location, staff were fantastic., an honesty bar is such a rarity but you wouldn't want to be dishonest as the staff were so accommodating. In the heart if the central market which was great, not the hotels fault but that comes at a price as it's also amongst a great many pubs which left the pavements strewn with the usual revellers mess(say no...
5-star hotels in South West, England

From the moment our car approaching the hotel the hotel staff is coming up to gree us, smooth checking in, valet parking, handling our luggages to each room, showing us the hotel facilities, guiding us to each rooms, showing our point of interests and providing guidance with local map. When we use the hotel mineral hot spring bath pool the staff provide us with bathing...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Windsor Guesthouse. Greeted with coffee/tea and friendly staff who helped to bring our luggage to our room. The rooms were beautifully designed, clean, comfortable, and home-like. Walking distance to city center Bath. Worth the stay.

Recommended if you are driving to Bath. Nice Breakfast with beautiful view. Yet, to be honest, the water pressure of shower was low, and the door of the shower was not well-functioning; However, because of the reception staff Johnny, these problems can be nothing. He is super friendly and introducing us about the city with very good choice of restaurants. Very warm ser...

We chose the EP for our Honeymoon and we could not have made a better choice. From start to finish the staff were attentive, fun and very pleasant and the hotel itself is beautiful! We were treated to a complimentary bottle of Prosecco in our room and lovely little touches throughout which made our Honeymoon even more special. The breakfast is wonderful and served in ...

Actually I and my friend booked 3 hotels in Bath during this trip, after we tried these 3 hotels, we both agree Macdonald is the best one, beautiful garden, very friendly staffs, everything was perfect, we had great time there. definitely we would like to stay Macdonald more nights if we could be back! BTW, Mr. Lawrence help us a lot, thanks!

Bovey Castle is much that a country retreat should be. The building itself is obviously very impressive, when viewed from either side, and once inside that also continues. The staff look very smart in their tweed uniforms and we found them polite, helpful but not at all stuffy. Our room was spacious, very well decorated and absolutely spotless, with the same applying ...

wE loved our stay there, It was a typical english castle with strange noises and bumps in the night. the high tea was fabulous, dinner everything. Our room was massive with a fire place you could stand 4 people in and it has a fire going all the time. walk down to the Whitle Lion for the best value for pub food.

We had a lovely stay at Vill Magdala. Didn't realise though that if you book through Agodo you have to pay for the parking separately. Wasn't a a problem and totally understand however it's just another added expense. The welcome was very friendly and you feel at home straight away. The balance is perfect. We didn't actually eat at the hotel as we spent all of our...

I was driving from London to Cornwall after a long flight and decided to stop for the night on the way. The hotel is just off the M5 and easy to get to from Heathrow. The staff were all so friendly and the room was very comfortable. The next morning I had a lovely breakfast. It was a great choice.

Lovely old Inn on busy A4 in Box/ Bath. The place has been beautifully decorated and our compact room was extremely clean. We had a fab Steak meal in the Restaurant and because it was a Monday night, we only paid £10 a head. Breakfast was all locally sourced and it showed in the taste- exquisite. Pity the coffee didn't come up to the same standard!!!If you want a sole...

we chose this hotel as we were on holiday from new zealand and meeting old friends at a nearby restaurant. check in was quick and easy, and whilst the car park may prove difficult for a large car, it was fine for our little renault. the room was clean and comfortable and ideal for out needs. we could have done with more explanation of how to open the gate at nigh...

The hotel is very good. Rooms are very comfortable, big, with big bathroom and clean towlels that are changed daily. You can order newspapers that are deliverd in the morning in front of your room. Wifi is very fast. On he grat location, just above the sea. Very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was full, with lots of different food to chose from. Great place to visit and ...

This place is better than I read. Lovely lovely room design, nice new furnishing and modern bathroom. In an old inn. Love the old and new juxtaposed. The reception is cosily decorated with Christmas tree and accessories, a nice library with books and games to entertain the kids. A nicely decorated hut at back for drinks Located right in middle of Stow. Room has a gra...

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. We were a group of 3 and had two rooms. From the moment we booked, Gray's staff ensured it was a personal experience. The B&B was very well designed and decorated with a lovely, bright breakfast rooms. Beds were very comfy and rooms were clean with nice finishing touches. Jamie had some good local suggestions for evening options, in...

We were pleasantly surprised that this 5 star property had won so many awards and we now know it deserves all the awards and more. Check in was a breeze and we were made to feel at home with cakes and tea brought to our room as we settled in. Tony provided us with all the neccessary information on the sights and dining options in the city center. This 5 room property i...

The Edgehill room, was somewhat small and packing space very limited if luggage is an issue. Excellent breakfast and genial hostess. Local, easily reached good wholesome food at reasonable prices. Well positioned and Banbury is worth a visit. Local history is interesting.

We had a warm welcome from the first few minutes. The original old bar has so much character and is obviously a great meeting point for the locals as well. The food was superb both in choice and in quality. It was centrally located both within the town itself and the Cotswolds generally. We really didn't feel the need to leave the hotel for drinks or food as the atmosp...

This was for my wedding night. The owners let my family come to change before the wedding after i told them about my wedding. When my new wife and i returned, there were rose petals, chocolates and other lovely touches. The view was beautiful and the bed was soooo nice! Perfect for our wedding night!

Nice little castle with a lot of character. Wayne, the manager was on hand to welcome us upon check-in and was always there to make us feel at home. Mike, the owner was also there to chat with us while we were in the lounge relaxing. They made us feel at home and this certainly enhanced the overall experience. Rooms were big, clean and comfortable with good sized bathr...
