San Nicolas hotels & places to stay

location is great, the busy and famous florida street is only a few staps away. florida metro station (they call it subte) is nearby. staffs are nice though only one person (patricio) speaks decent english he only works day shift. others are friendly, though language barrier can be quite a challenge. nice spread of continental breakfast buffet. clean rooms and bathrooms. tv reception is not so good, not very clear. wireless internet is not free, about ars per day or so, and the connection is quite bad at upper floors. saw people sitting in front of elevators or at the lobby with their notebooks to the lobby to get better connection.

The hotel is very clean, modern and spacious and in a excellent location. The building itself is beautiful and some of the original features have been maintained, such as the pretty tiling in the bar area. The restaurant is on the lower ground floor, where an excellent buffet breakfast is served; at other times an a la carte menu is offered, and the restaurant is noted for its excellent dinners. Staff at the front desk are helpful, service with a smile.

The only problem we experienced was some sort of misunderstanding between the hotel and Agoda, so that our booking was nor recognised at fisrt; however, we were given a room without delay, while trying to find out was was wrong: luckily, everything was solved after a while and our booking (and prepayment!) was finally found. If this turns out to be just an occasional problem, I wouldn't give much importance to it and would therefore recommend the hotel, which is nice and clean and well staffed.

The hotel is very well located near the main shopping street (Florida). The rooms are very quiet and the size is a bit small, but the prices are correct. Everything is clean. The breakfast is good(small buffet) and sometimes you have to wait for a table. The staff is helpfull. You can leave you luggage in the reception after your room check-out. It has been our 2n time in this hotel and will repeat

Our stay at Viamonte Suites was satisfactory based on the fine location and great breakfast. The room was definitely not a suite nor were any available in the hotel. Beds were good, personnel helpful and friendly, and the room was large. During the last 3 days of our 4 night stay, the air conditioner dripped (loudly) continually. We were given a bucket to catch the water but no tech was available to repair it (weekend). Bus, subway connections were very convenient and we walked to many major interest sites.

its probably was 4* hotel once upon a time,-- mid 60s-70s.. since then it was complete rattled, very poor maintenance of place, laundry was not work for a week- just close. furniture and bath has not been change since day one. aircons doent work well (change two rooms)-- with full gear still keep room at 30C (and it was not extreme hot weather). everything look old and wear out. at present state this hotel should be lucky to get 1 or 2* as a top. But,- location absolutely brilliant. i'll suggest to spend same money or just a 10-15$ more to get way better hotel in same area (within 2-3 blocks)

Our flight to Buenos Aires was delayed. The front desk folks helped us to contact the provider for our evening tango show, since we were late for our pickup. We were able to connect & save out booking. They also provided an extension cord with adapter plugs so one of our group could operate her CPAP. Since a fire truck was blocking the street as we were leaving, they also helped haul our luggage a block & a half to where we could be picked up by a taxi & when the first taxi wasn't large enough to hold the 3 of us & our luggage, he waited, paid off the first driver & saw us safely loaded intro the larger replacement. There were moments when more English on the part of the staff would have been useful, but we managed fine.

My negative thoughts on arrival to my room were soon put to bed by the extremely friendly and supportive staff. The location and close proximity to places of interst of sites of national importance made up for some of the tired appearances of the hotel. Any negative aspects of the hotal were more than compensated by the more positive aspects of location and friendliness.

Despite negative reports of noise, 'small' rooms and unfriendly staff that I read on the internet, my experience over six days stay was highly satisfactory. The central location is in walking distance to the Plaza de Mayo, the Florida Paseo, san Martin Plaza, Confetria Ideal/Tango venue. It is also close to the major bus line stops. Taxi services were promptly responded to by a helpful staff. I basically needed a base - a room to sleep in and a shower - for which the Rochester Concept served extremely well. The room and bathroom were kept clean and hygienic at all times. The breakfasts included in the rate were bountiful, though the quality of the coffee can be improved upon. Restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. I will certainly recommend it to my friends and family.

i had very big difficulties with the blockage of my visa card by my bank (it was done outomaticaly for my security as soon as i live my country). the staf of the hotel was very kind. they helped me by making a lot of calls for me, so the problem was sorted out and i could pay my bills. i,m very, very thankful. there is one very bright person on the reception - he is called mr.gaston subovsky. he is very good and polite to all the customers and very pacient person. i owe him a lot.

Found front end staff very helpful with all my requests re: restaurants to visit where to shop etc.. Would liked to have had more varety for breakfast i.e. more types of egg dishes like fried and or an omelet. Was not very happy with the tour company they used for local tours. Despite promises that they would return you to the hotel after end of tour they just dropped you at a choice of two locations which were some distance from the hotel. Reluctantly they contributed some money toward cab fare. I would not recommend the Tour to Colonia. It is expensive for what you receive. And again upon arrival back in Buenos Aries you are left at the ferry terminal to find your own way back to your hotel. A real rip off in my view.

The hotel is our favorite, because of the location and helpful staff. I am not sure if it was because of the fact that they gave Agoda a block of the worst rooms in the hotel or what, but we got two rooms on the 11th floor. We were the only two rooms booked on the 11th floor because they were still remodeling the rest of them. We heard saws and hammers from 7 am onward. Also the sewage smell coming from the bathroom drain was not nice. All in all, however, because of the location and the friendly staff, we would go there again. I would probably book it directly from the hotel,

Great Location and fantastic price. The hotel is smack in the middle of the action and very unbeatable in terms of price. The downside (and this was no deal breaker for me but might be for more demanding travelers): 1. Bathrooms are small and the drain smells. Simple solution. Cover with bath mat. 2. Traffic noise is perceptible as are conversations whenever anyone is standing in the hallway outside your door. 3. Breakfast was limited and quickly ran out but there was usually something (coffee and one or two leftovers) for those arriving after 9:30 am. Solution: get there earlier and maybe try to remember to think of other guests who might be coming after you. Positives: 1. Friendly, helpful front desk staff. Ironically, these smaller, cheaper hotels seem to have more proactive service staff than some of the more expensive ones where serving others seems to be an endured embarrassment to earn a living rather than a joy to serve. 2. Free Internet computer stations in lobby. Bit crowded and prone to connection interruptions but hey... free and convenient.

I reserved a room in this hotel because it was cheap. Thus I didn't expect much, but was blown away! A wonderful place in a great downtown location (and very close to Aeroparque (that's why I booked it). Staff was friendly, room was huge and beautiful, Internet worked, room was clean, had kitchenette, and great layout. Good breakfast, too. The hotel s a gem in the middle of Buenos Aires! I was so happy that I booked it for the return trip again!

Very nice room, albeit a little tired in places, and a great location. A great choice of welcome drinks was provided on arrival. However we booked this hotel hoping to use the swimming pool as when we were there it was very sunny and in the late 20s. However the pool is ONLY OPEN DECEMBER TO MARCH. This is a detail we missed when reviewing the Agoda description. However on complaining to the manager, we were later surprised to find a bottle of champagne in the room with a written apology. Few hotels would go this far over something like this!

This hotel has been dressed up to look like a French chateaux (a very small one) inside and they have generally done a good job of adding some atmosphere by using recycled furniture and chandeliers etc. The bathroom I had was too small to close the door while you stood at the sink but that is my only complaint. The windows are double glazed so the noise of the traffic isn't too bad (and I am a bad sleeper normally). There are some great restaurants very close and one of the staff was particularly helpful. For the cost this was a great experience. I forgot to go to the free Tango lesson. Maybe next time!

I liked their staff. At the reception they were helpfull and curteous. Arrage for shows and local tours. Give good directions. Reccomend good places to places to see and have dinner. Cafeteria staff were always at hand refilling juices, coffee, milk, and all else on the buffet tables. Hotel lobby interior was modern and airy. Had available computers and wi-fi that worked. The hotel is a good place for young and old. I will stay again on a future trip.

We really enjoyed staying is this nice and fine design hotel. We are positive about the hotel and would definitly recommend it to others. If being critical we where very disapointed the pool was closed (25degree celcius spring weather). This was not mentioned at booking and not mentioned in the guest information book. When opened is beautifull on the roof with stylisch furniture. The area is an office area, good for business but deserted by night (no restaurants near). At breakfast they propose mostly canned fruits or fresh fruits in a sugar sirup. This could me more adapted to international tastes (who eat less sweet then south americans) Staff was great, they accepted us in at 8am and even changed are room to a double in the afternoon!!

Great hotel - clean, comfortable and friendly. Excellent location close to buses, metro, supermarket and easy walking distance to Florida/La Valle. Rooms have fridge, hob, kettle and sink ( dishwasher!! ). The aircon was not very efficient but we had a fan as well which we prefer anyway. We had a superior room which was at the back and quiet. Breakfast was plentiful with bread/croissants, ham, cheese, a variety of biscuits, cereals, yoghurt, fruit and pastries. You were able to order eggs from the bar!! Overall, a great place to stay in Buenos Aires at a reasonable price.

This well-known boutique hotel is centrally located in downtown Buenos Aires,the front desk staff are very helpful(just ask for a map of the city,which shows the location of the hotel).The Continental breakfast is reasonable, although choice is limited,and the free internet provided access to email-which was very useful as international telephone calls are expensive in Argentina.

We were so happy that we had found this hotel at a very reasonable rate. Its location is perfect. While being close to central that major sights and good restaurants are within walking distance, our room was quiet. The hotel's design carries history and taste. Our room was spacious and very clean. Staff are very friend and tried best to cater for our needs. We like it so much that we stayed there again when we returned to Buenos Aires.
