Shimla City Center hotels & places to stay

The hotel is well located in Mall Rd and only requires a short walk from the High Court carpark or a ride up the Tourist Lift. The rooms are spacious and while aging are generally in an ok state. The bed linen probably needs retiring. A great view from our balcony . The gym needs a good clean ☹️ Staff are very helpful and friendly . The restaurant serves great food; wonderful actually . The pizza restaurant next door is great too . There’s so much to see and do in Shimla . We flew to Chandigarh and Pratap at the hotel arranged a car for us at 3500 inr. The journey up was about four and a half hours, while the return was less than four hours. The road has considerable works going on.

A nice hotel. Convenient location in the heart of Shimla (and close to the palace and the temple of Hanuman). The staff is very polite. There is hot water. Clean. Fish and a beautiful garden. Wi-fi works great. Thank you very much. Be careful! Next to the hotel travel agency Great Himalayan Travels works there fraudster Sachin. Go to the hotel this agency has nothing to do, just close located.

I visited shimla for the first time. We chose this property as it is far from the crowd of shimla. Oaktree house is a beautiful property, decorated in a very classy and sophisticated manner, with a personal attention given to its every corner. The food is good, staff is excellent and the service is at par. The owner, Mr. Anil Walia is a fantastic host and a very warm person. He was kind enough to give us all his time and gave us a good amount of knowledge about Shimla. A highly recommended place if you are going to Shimla.

Everything clean and tidy. Location was near mall road but after a steep hike. Parking only for cars not for bigger vehicle. I did not try buffet so cant say much. Ordered fried rice and it was tasty. Only few rooms have open view. I stayed in room#306. It does not have good view. Door key hole is not covered, curtains dont fold completely, taps etc are a bit clumsy. No light switch near bed, Tea kettle a worn out. But all serve their purpose. So overall nice place to stay in Shimla. Its value for money.

We absolutely love this hotel! We happened to visit the hotel during Christmas and they have arranged for a Christmas Dinner with fun and games for all the guests. Our room was in the palace wing, an excellent choice! There was even a fireplace in the room to keep us warm at night. The hotel was a former Maharaja residence and there were portraits of the previous owner(s) and their family members all around the hotel. It was kind of creepy but these are what gave the hotel some personal touch and you really feel as if you were in a different era. The Mall Street is merely 15mins away by foot. We've requested a private day trip to Kufri and with a minimal fee, we found it was worth every penny! Our guide was very knowledgable and he seems to love his job. Will definitely come here again on our next trip to Shimla.

Its a newly built property ,with a great location . Just 15~20 Kms from Shimla. One can spend time in the resort and also take a single day trip to Shimla. Leisure activities in the resort are good , though they should increase the no of activities . They need to make it more economical , but clean place , good staff and good food makes the overall experience a memorable one.

Booked hotel from the Agoda.... The actual tariff for the room is not more than INR 1800 + Taxes but paid more than 3K to Agoda. Food was fine but staff was more helpful. Location is also non-traceable for the first timers. I called up hotel and they send HK to escort me to hotel. Request you all to skip the option of staying and even if you want to stay in a budget hotel, then book directly as at the same price mentioned in Agoda, you will get better rooms.

this bed and breakfast is located 5kms from the center of Shimla (40 mins walk or 10mins by public bus). Staff is so friendly you feel at home from the very first minute. We had the best porridge in our life! The kitchen is basic but all is there for casual cooking. The view from our room was amazing! Hot water is available all the time. Unforgetable stay in the mountains.

Entering the room we found TV not working and one set of lights not working.There were one set of internal phone numbers to contact reception etc and at the back there are different set of numbers etc to contact reception.On complaint the management upgraded us to a suite.Here TV was working but you cannot use shower etc.They brought a bucket so that we can store water to use.We preferred the previous room and with the help of house maintenance got the TV and light connections repaired,the dusts on the floor removed etc. Next day when we returned to hotel in the evening we again found TV and lights not working, no towels in the bathroom,the tea/coffee cups have vanished, tea bag replacements not done.Again with the help of house maintenance we got the problems sorted out.However when we were going to sleep we found that they have connected the lights and the fan in one switch.Since we had to use the fan all lights were on while we were sleeping. This hotel is used by Tour Operators.Not recommended for Couples

besides the fact that this homestay is slightly difficult to locate (as it is just outside shimla city center), aapo aap homestay was one of the highlight of my trip to india. the homestay has a huge space fitting for a family. the beds are comfortable and the bathroom are clean. breakfast provided with home made food and the hospitality provided by the owner add the extra touch of warmness to my stay. the view is beautiful, especially in the morning. a cup of chai (indian tea)or coffee is always available to customers whenever needed which is nice in the cold weather of shimla. overall a really wonderful stay and a different experience to regular hotel.

Terrible please don't book this place. It's actually a homestay but not a traditional one. It's a cheap, dirty smelly hotel about 7km outside of the city centre. There are no taxis or shops near this place so you get stuck there. It costs a lot of money to get a taxi there. It's difficult to find when you do have a taxi. There was a big spider in the corridor. None of the bathrooms have showers. There was no toilet paper. The male owners/managers don't speak any English. This place really shouldn't be on Agoda. Bottom line - I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Aamantran is a delightful homestay with a very warm,helpful family welcome. We had breakfast and dinner every night there because the food was delicious and consisted of fresh vegetables and ingredients. Every meal was cooked from scratch, nothing taken out of the freezer. We stayed in a room on the top floor which had a terrace that had magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and valleys with the awe inspiring Himalayas in the distance. Vipul, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful. He suggested many excursions and walks that we took and thoroughly enjoyed. Shoghi is about 4 stops (30-40 mins) from Shimla (the main holiday destination) by a little, narrow gauge train. An experience! Shimla can get a bit crowded with people and traffic during the holiday season whereas Shoghi has a calmness and tranquility that is quite special. All in all I felt we were having an adventure while staying there. When we left, I felt like I was leaving a friend. Highly recommended.

Pros: very good view's from room. Available tea & coffee in room. Half way between railway & town. Cons: There are signs everywhere saying that your towels, sheets etc etc would be replenished everyday, but not once did this happen! No one spoke the national language of the world English, so very hard to communicate.Sheets ,towels etc looked as though they were 100 yes old! Unfortunately there isn't much DECENT accommodation in Shimla.

This could probably be the best honeymoon hotel in Shimla. Excellent location, amazing sunset views from balcony. Grand king sized bed and amazing toilet with tub. Was offered a cake and tub was decorated with petals and fragrance as me and my wife were on a honeymoon trip. Great location, just 15 mins walk to mall road where all things happen. In-room service has got an excellent menu options with all cuisines on board. Lavish swimming pool and interiors makes this place want to go again for anybody. Great staff, very welcoming and warm. I would recommend every couple this hotel...

The hotel has an amazing view of the pine forest and if it is a clear day you can see the beautiful Himalaya Mountains. There are also many opportunities to watch the monkeys flying from the tree tops and playing on the roofs of homes and hotels. If you're looking for a good price it was a real deal. The free breakfast was VERY simple, but fine. The one suggestion I would have would be to call when you arrive and ask someone to meet you at a easy to find meeting point. It is difficult to find on your own. The staff was very accommodating!
