This boutique hotel is a stylish newcomer located right in the heart of Kuching, making it ideal for a convenient and cozy staycation. My husband and I have stayed here twice so far, once in 2024 and again in April 2025. Overall, we enjoy the experience. During our first visit in 2024, we were given a spacious, well kept room. Although it didn’t have a view, the space and comfort made up for it. The decor was clean and modern, and the amenities were as expected for a boutique style hotel. That stay left a positive impression. However, on our second visit in April 2025, things were a little different. We were assigned a much smaller room, and the bed was placed very close to the entrance, So close that there was barely enough space to walk between the door and the foot of the bed. It felt a bit cramped, especially compared to our previous stay. It made us wonder whether room assignments are based on availability or booking type. Despite that, the location remains a huge plus, especially if you’re looking to explore downtown Kuching on foot. There are plenty of eateries, attractions, and shops nearby, all within walking distance. Staff were polite and helpful, and the hotel generally maintained good cleanliness throughout. We do plan to return again for our next staycation, and we hope to be allocated one of the larger rooms next time. If you're considering this hotel, it might be worth mentioning your room preference at check-in!
Pros: • The hotel looks quite new. • The bed and mattress are very soft and comfortable – had a good sleep. • Room size is just nice (not too big, not too small). • Convenient digital self check-in – the door uses a key card. • Some dishes at the restaurant are good, especially the Kung Pao Chicken. • Swimming pool, though small, is suitable for kids. • I also wanted to support a local hotel in Kuching, which is why I chose to bring my family here to try it out. Cons: • The child policy is absolutely ridiculous – children aged 4 years and above are already counted as an extra person and charged like adults. Even 5-star hotels don’t impose such rules. This is extremely unfair and makes the hotel very unfriendly to families. • Breakfast is very disappointing – not worth RM20 per person. • Many items were already finished even as early as 8:30am. • The quality and taste did not match the price. • Staff also sounded rude when asked about food refill. • Only a Bible was provided in the room. A hotel should be inclusive by offering other religious texts as well, otherwise it feels discriminatory. • Some hotel rules feel too strict, for example charging RM50 if they find a dirty stain/spot in the room. This feels unreasonable since cleaning is part of hotel service. Conclusion & Tip: The hotel has good points – comfortable beds, decent rooms, modern check-in, and some tasty dishes. However, my experience was spoiled by the unreasonable child policy, the poor breakfast, and overly strict rules. I might consider coming back if traveling alone or just as a couple, but definitely not with kids. 👉 Tip for future guests: When you check in, don’t go straight to the front desk – just go directly to your room with the digital check-in. If you speak to the front desk, they will enforce the unfair child policy and charge you extra.
We chose to stay for one night to see if it was worth the hype. The room was clean and equipped with basic amenities. As for the breakfast buffet, the choices were quite limited. The hotel does offer massage services, but they close rather early at 8 p.m. After a long day, most guests including us would prefer to unwind with a massage before bed, so this is definitely an area that could be improved. Another drawback is the water dispenser. It isn’t available on every floor, so if you want to refill your water, you’ll need to go to the counter and ask the staff to help. Otherwise, once you finish the two complimentary bottles in your room, each additional bottle costs RM5. On the positive side, the price is affordable. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced boutique stay, this place could be an option. Parking is sheltered, though limited, and works on a first-come, first-served basis.
Overall room is clean and comfy. However, I suggest the open area foods have to take care of the hygiene problem, may use something to cover the foods instead of open air, as I saw a lot of flies standing on the foods, which may cause food poisoning to the guest. Hope management will take immediate action on this.

“A Home Away From Home: My Delightful Stay at Theatre Hotel”
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Theatre Hotel, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in many ways. From the moment I stepped into my room, I felt a sense of comfort and relaxation, almost as if I were in my own home. Impeccable Cleanliness and Thoughtful Amenities The room was spotlessly clean, a factor that is always a top priority for me. I was pleased to find a safe box for my valuables, a smart TV for entertainment, and high-speed internet with a blazing 300mbps connection. The hotel also thoughtfully provided tea bags, coffee sachets, creamer, and sugar, allowing me to enjoy a hot beverage at my convenience. The bathroom was well-stocked with toiletries, including shampoo, body lotion, body wash, and hand soap. While I did miss having conditioner, the availability of a hairdryer (which, thankfully, was powerful enough for my long hair) was a definite plus. Comfortable and Convenient The bed was incredibly comfortable, with a plush mattress and cozy pillows that ensured a good night's sleep. The open-style wardrobe with 5 hangers was practical for organizing my clothes. The air conditioning was quiet, although I could hear a faint sound from the centralized air conditioning system outside, possibly from another part of the hotel. However, this noise was not noticeable at night. I appreciated the wood-look tile flooring, which felt more hygienic than carpet. The hotel also provided a dental kit, vanity kit, shower cap, sanitary bag, and an electric kettle. A thoughtful touch was the collection of brochures in the room, catering to tourists. Attention to Detail The hotel truly impressed me with its attention to detail. There was a laundry bag for my convenience, and clear signage indicating the no-smoking policy (with a warning of a RM500 fine for violations). I also appreciated the presence of a Qibla direction sign and a mini-fridge in the room. The 4-digit password entry system for both the main entrance and individual floors added an extra layer of security. The two trash cans, one in the room and one in the bathroom, were a practical touch. Tranquility and Convenience One of the things I loved most about the hotel was its peaceful ambiance. It was quiet and serene, with no traffic noise disturbing my stay. The on-site parking was also a major convenience. Overall My stay at the Theatre Hotel was nothing short of delightful. It felt like a home away from home, with all the necessary amenities and thoughtful touches. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay.
