A 'home away from home' homestay”

The Homestay is special. The whole family is so welcoming and helpful. The room is spacious, comfortable, quiet and with a view. The homecooked food is delicious vegetarian food. It is away from the main Shimla area (The Mall/ Ridge), which means it is nice and peaceful (about 50 minutes walk or a short taxi ride).
The weather was unseasonably cold. Fortunately there is a fan heater in the room and they provide plenty of duvets plus hot water bottle, keeping us comfortable

Home away from home”

We stayed at Vatsalyam for 3 nights. Lots of positives to write about. 1. Mr. Ashish is a wonderful host who took care of all our needs including arranging CABs for pick up from Chandigarh airport, local sightseeing, dropping at railway station and even helped planning the sightseeing itinerary. Since we were new to Shimla, it helped us a lot to stay tension free on planning the sightseeing and saved us a lot time. 2. Sumptuous Breakfast with a healthy and tasty spread. They ensured that there was always a paratha variety, porridge, cereal, cut fruits and bread / toast with butter and jam. Dinner was even better and at a nominal cost. Each dinner had soft and hot rotis, one paneer gravy, one dal, one sabji, steamed basmati rice, curd and pickle. The dinner was also concluded with a yummy dessert. The local delicacy Mahani served on our last evening dinner was top notch. We had requested for gobi sabji for all 3 days for our kid and they readily accepted our request. 3. Hot Tea and coffee were served 3 times a day. 4. Laundry was available at a nominal price. 5. There was a mini library to entertain guests with a voracious reading habit. 6. Mr Ashish and his family met and greeted us everyday without fail and enquired about the stay and facilities provided. 7. They always ensured the dining area was neatly set and fully prepared before any meal and on time requested. 8. And finally, the one thing that we booked this homestay for, didn't disappoint us - The balcony view of the valley. It was a sight to behold.
The only drawback that I would like to quote is the distance from the city centre but that is also a blessing in disguise as it provided a quiet and serene atmosphere.

We had a wonderful stay in Vatsalyam. The host Mr.Ashish and his family were extremely hospitable. Mr. Ashish was very helpful in fixing our transport problems. The room was big with a wonderful view of surrounding natural landscape.

10 stars and a full moon for the extraordinary Vatsalyam Home Stay!”

My wife and me stayed for 4 days in this extraordinary, fine establishment in may 2022. The Vatsalyam Home Stay and the family Sharda are elevating the old basic standards of hospitality to new heights and adding a valuable content into the concept of "hospitality" that goes beyond awarding with multiple stars or numbers. The Vatsalyam Home Stay and the Sharda family return to the original value of the word "hospitality." In India and Nepal hospitality is based on the principle ´Atithi Devo Bhava´, meaning "the guest is God". Traditionally hospitality involved welcoming the stranger and offering him food, shelter, and safety, but the family Sharda does much more than this. They open their loving and caring heart to their guests and surround them with a welcoming, gentle, soft and protective energy that provides the guests with the bliss of letting go of the daily thoughts, tasks and duty's. The room was spotless clean and tidy, very spacious, bright and comforting. The view is breath taking and the giant terrace offers the finest relaxing experience. The home cooking excellent food is a must. We have traveled trough Nepal and India for 3 months before arriving to this home stay. Here we have eaten the BEST DAL we ate in Nepal and India! A master piece made by Mrs. Sharda. We can keep on writing much more about this heavenly nest of love and care but we think you got the massage :-) It is an experience of once in a life time and it is waiting for you to enjoy it. Thank you Family Sharda for providing us with the most loving, caring and pleasant memory of India. We carry you all in our hearts. Namaste

An ideal homestay for a vacation.”

Tasty and healthy and the home cooked flavours of the breakfast started the day well. Served at the time asked. Ashish and the family members were always around if we wanted anything . Ashish went out of his way in planning our itinerary and guiding us whenever required. Rooms were very large ,comfortable, airy and a lovely terrace with amazing views of the mountains. The house keeping was very professional and cleanliness maintained.A very secure place with a friendly dog added to the joy of the holiday.
If we could have ordered or allowed to bring in some non-vegetarian food if needed ,it would have been ideal as the place is away from the Mall. Sometimes ,one just wants to chill in the room and eat something.
